Lecture 9 assignment.

1. Do you think that your answers  are similar or different from most Americans? In what ways are they similar, and different?
I think my answers are similar to most. I believe that because i am an average individual. I picked 2 average colors, i had an average income, and average answer to cars looks being important to me, i like wild animals over normal because its different, which seems like an average answer as well. So i think many people have the same conclusion as me when it comes down to it.

2. Which questions do you think  would be the most helpful if  one was using market research to design new paintings for sale? What questions would you ask differently, or leave out entirely?
If you like it more abstract or realistic, bold or frilly, busy or simple, straight or curved, bright or dark colors, and people, animals or objects. You can base your decision making off of everyone of these questions. For example. I like abstract, bold, busy, curved, dark, objects. Just from choosing one of each, you already have a painting.

3. Would this work? Why or why not?
Heck yea it would work, i just explained it. Once you know what people like, you can give them what they really want.

And the survey is filled out right below this post

"Paintings don't necessarily have to teach us any lessons, but can just be something a person likes to look at."
Which of the following statements is closest to your view?
"I prefer paintings that are different-looking if they're very realistic, I might as well be looking at a photography"

Soft curves.

Random uneven.

Expressive brush strokes.
Do you like to see colors blend into each other or do you like it when different colors are kept apart?
A little of both. Probably blending though. I like to blend.
"Every color has a wide range of shades. Take the color blue, for example. An artist can use a bright, vibrant shade of blue, like a royal blue, a pale, muted shade of blue, like light blue, or a darker tone of blue, like dark or midnight blue. In general, which would you say that you prefer? when the artist uses more vibrant shades, paler shades, or darker shades of color?"
Darker.
"In general, do you enjoy paintings that have a more serious or a more festive mood?"
Serious.
"And how about the painting itself - do you like it to be busy and contain lots of people or obj

Busy.
How about the size of paintings: do you prefer larger paintings or smaller paintings?
full wall
"Some paintings are of famous historical figures and others are of more ordinary people. Do you generally prefer paintings of famous people, or ones of more ordinary paintings."

Long time if i did prefer famous people.
"Do you prefer paintings which are predominantly of children, of women, or of men, or doesn't it matter?"
I think painting with a womans body are very beautiful. Women have curves and are naturally pretty, no matter the size. But for faces, i like close-ups on men. I think theyre faces are much more interesting. When painting people, you really have to catch the viewers eye, and the bodies of women have more curves than men, but a man's face has more detail than a lady's.
"Thinking back to the paintings of people that you have like in the past, for the most part were the figure working, at leisure, or were they posed portraits?"
I have mostly seen them in posed portraits, but wished they were otherwise.
"Which do you think you like better, a painting of one person or of a group of people?"
If its a group, it needs to be a big one, And if there is few, i like it simple with one.
"And from what you've seen, would you say that you prefer paintings in which the person or people are nude, partially clothed or fully clothed?"
I like it either way. The body in my opinion is a beatiful thing. Im not a fan of picasso's body painting, but the clothed paintings of people, i do. So i guess it varies for me depending on the artist and how natural he/she can make the body look.
If you were given the choice of a gift - a sum of money or a piece of art that you genuinely like and which was of equal value to the money, which would you choose?
Most likely the art. But that is because i enjoy it when someone actually takes the time to find me gift instead of passing that task on to me by giving me money to get it myself.
Which one of the following would be most important to you in deciding how much money you would spend on a painting?
the degree to which you like the painting
What is the most amount of money you would consider spending on a piece of art you really like?
Depends on how rich i get.
"For each of the following names, indicate if your impressions of that artist's work are very favorable, favorable, or very unfavorable. Some of these artists are not very well known, so if you have never heard of someone, or don't know enough about their work to have an opinion, just say so."
Pablo Picasso- A fan of some work, but not a huge fan.
Norman Rockwell- A little too commercial, but all in all a pretty good artist to me.
Jackson Pollock- It would be alot of fun to do what he does, his work is very simple, but VERY busy.
Salvador Dali- Probably one of my favorite artists, his work is so original, very fun to look at.
Leroy Neiman- COLORFUL, which i like, and a little abstract.
Claude Monet- Beautiful, realistic, but not realistic, hard to put a name on it for me.
Rembrandt- Ew. Too realistic for me. Not crazy about the posing too. Just take a picture.
Andy Warhol- Interesting. Not a big fan.
Georgia O'Keefe- Even though they are "Vag's" I still think her work is beautiful, its so soft and vibrant.
"If you could pick one type of person you'd most enjoy having dinner with, would you choose an artist, a television or movie actor, an author, or a sports star?"
An artist most likely.
"How often, on average, would you say that you go to art museums - more than two times a year, one or two times a year, less than once a year, or not at all?
Not really at all. Maybe less than once i year. I have only been to 2 ever.
The following are some reasons people have given in the past as to why they do not go to art museums more often. For each reason, please tell whether it is a major reason why you do not go to musuems more often, a minor reason, or not a reason at all:
1. there is not an art museum in my area: MAJOR.
2. I do not have enough spare time: Not really a good enough reason.
3. I don't feel comfortable in art museums because I don't know alot about art: Not a reason at all.
4. the cost of admission is too expensive: Not a reason at all.
5. I simply don't enjoy looking at art: Whoaaa, not a reason!
Would you favor or oppose spending more money in federal taxes than we do on the arts?
Oppose.
Some works of art are displayed in public places. Do you think that average citizens should or should not have a say in determining which works of art are appropriate to be displayed in public?
Should and shouldnt, It depends on the complaint and the person who is complaining.
"When it comes to most political issues, do you think of yourself as a liberal, a conservative, or a moderate? If moderate, do you think of yourself as being closer to being liberal or being conservative?"
Moderate, conservative.

SRL

The quetsions have been answered... In my opinion that is.....

The fantasy that SRL fulfills are fulfilled in ways that are different to most artists. Instead of a painting, or sculpture, its a robotic formation used in a performance; breathing fire, crushing things, etc. The mainstream are different in the way that the SRL performances are machines. Yet to me in a way it is very alike in the way that they are machines. In SRL performances, the event is the machine itself and in mainstream things and performances, its more along the line of what the machines can do for you. In my opinion, SRL performances are valued more because they are original while mainstream is not. I really dont agree with the machines being "Yanks with Tanks" or an act of violence. The men who do it, do it for fun. Anyone who wishes to view the performances of SRL are welcome to watch. Their audience is whoever wishes. The reason for being in Amsterdam is because they said that they love the environment there. They are very well accpeted and its a relaxing city with many places to work.

The cool Egyptian ran like beautiful thunder.
The creepy sunlight screamed delightfully over waterfalls.
The ridiculous car rolled on glistening mountaintops.
